An automated dialling which can save a life.

At the 19° ITS  World Congress 2012, which took place in Vienna from the 22nd to 26th of October, the Italian prototype “eCall”, the 112 automated emergency dialling system, was extremely successful.
Neelie Kroes, the European Commission Vice President and in charge for the European Digital Agency, crowned the event, taking part in the project presentation and in the “iMobility Awards 2012” ceremony.
During the event, it was possible to make some emergency automated dialling to PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) in Varese from the fair from a vehicle equipped with ”eCall”. The PSAP in Varese intakes all the rescue calls from the provinces of Varese, Como, Lecco, Monza e Bergamo, and utilises as managing platform the emma system of  Beta 80 Group, leader in Italy for the emergency management.
The Italian prototype of “eCall” has been realized within the project HeERO (Harmonized eCall European Pilot), through which the nine states present will set up an emergency call system, perfectly adhering to the functional and technical standards already in place.
The Italian consortium, which participates to HeeRO is managed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, is supported by  companies such as Magneti Marelli, Centro Ricerche Fiat, Telecom Italia, Automobile Club d’Italia, AREU- Regione Lombardia. Beta 80 Group has given its technological support to achieve the project.
