Achievements/Impacts
The main benefits expected from PAST are:
- Enhanced ability of visitors to understand the cultural heritage a site represents, not only in a narrow,
local perspective, but also in a global, European one
- Improved fruition by the general public (and not only by scientists and researchers) of information in existing multimedia archaeological databases, thus transforming investments made in digital preservation of cultural
heritage into a direct and immediate benefit for all EU citizens
- Increased investment capability in further excavation, research, etc. by archaeological sites, without increasing the consumption of public money,
thanks to higher self-generated revenues.
- Increased revenues for archaeological sites.
As for the last aspect, we consider possible an improvement of revenues thanks to:
- Higher number of yearly visitors. PAST increases the attractiveness of
archaeological sites, even smaller ones, especially for the young visitors; An improvement of the 30% of
the visitor's number seem sensible to the consortium.
- Higher prices payable by visitors. We consider possible an improvement of the 20% of the ticket price.
- Higher revenues from souvenir sales. One of the PAST features is the possibility to create the CD of the visit.
It's considered possible that at least the 10% of the visitors will buy the CD
